Explore Rowing Stages 1 & 2
This is an introduction to sculling course for adults (11 years+). The course is aimed at beginners who want to learn the basics of sculling in a environment using single-seated and quad boats. We have optional stabilisers if required.
All participants must be able to swim 10m.
11–18 years £98
(Includes 3 months temporary Silver membership to British Rowing.)
Once you have completed a beginner’s course, you can apply to join the Hillingdon Rowing Club. 11–18 year olds can join the HOAC Sculling Club to progress further in this sport.
What is the difference between rowing and sculling?
- In Rowing – each person uses only one oar, with both hands on it.
- In Sculling – each person uses two oars, one hand on each. Sculling is better for juniors.
