As you are probably aware HS2 will cut through the middle of the HOAC site once it is built.
HOAC have been working tirelessly over the last 6 years to ensure our voice is heard and that the provision we provide won’t be lost.
What is the current situation?
- HOAC has planning permission for a move to Denham Quarry.
- LBH has secured funding of £26.5 million to move HOAC.
- HS2 will be starting preliminary work from November 2018.
- HOAC will be off the current site by April 2019.
The problem is the original planning application had an associated cost of £55 million, so now LBH, Summerlease, Bucks CC and HOAC are working together to ensure a feasible solution can be achieved at Denham.
When will we move?
Time is tight, especially if a new planning application is required, but HS2 want to come onto our site from November 2018, and want us off site by end of March 2019, so we are working on the deadline that Denham needs to be ready for start of April 2019.
Where is the new site?
The new site is in Denham Quarry, just off the A40 Denham Roundabout. It has excellent access for vehicles, we are also working to ensure it has good access for pedestrians and cyclist too.
What will happen to HOAC over the winter of 2018-2019?
We have worked with HS2 to ensure we can continue to operate as normal over the winter weekends, so our membership opening program and weekend courses will carry on as normal. However HOAC’s midweek group bookings (which is very quiet at that time of year) will probably stop.
What is going on on Harvil Road?
Part of the preparatory work involves moving a gas main which runs under the proposed line. The work along Harvil Road is associated with the moving of this pipeline. The whole project is expected to take a year to complete, apart from the obvious issues on Harvil Road there isn’t any direct effect to HOAC.
The compound at the top of Dews Lane is for security due to the protestors who are camping along the road.
What about the new site, will it offer the same as HOAC?
We are working to ensure that everything we offer at our current site will be available at the new site. This is preliminary sketch based on the existing planning application.
What about my boat? Will you help get it to the new site?
Once our plans are confirmed we will be in touch with all members to plan how to get your boat to the new site, we are likely to have various options available from you sorting it yourself to us doing the whole process for you.
Should I still join for the 2018 – 2019 season?
Yes! We will be operating as normal for the season, there may be some minor disruption over the winter but we will be carrying on as normal.
HOAC are still working to finalise all the details of the move and the new site, once we know more we will pass this on to all our members and users.
