HOAC and HS2 2019 Update
As you are probably aware HS2 was due to come onsite this Autumn to start their construction works.
LBH have been working hard to develop a plan to get us operational on the new site for 2019, however the schedule has always been a very tight one, so we have been pushing HS2 to give us one more season at our current site.
Where will we be for the 2019 season?
- We will remain at our current site and operating as normal until the end of August 2019
- From September 2019 we will still be operating as normal but HS2 will be starting to set up on and around site. This won’t affect any activities but will affect the visual aspect of the HOAC site
- From November 2019 we wont be running any mid-week group activity
- Weekend opening will carry on as usual until we decide to start operating on the new site
- From April 2020 we will be operating on the New Denham Quarry Site
When will we move?
We plan to move over the winter of 2019-20 to be ready for the 2020 season. The exact date will be determined once we have a construction timetable for the new site.
Where is the new site?
The new site is in Denham Quarry and has excellent access for vehicles, we are also working to ensure it has good access for pedestrians and cyclists too.
What will happen to HOAC over the winter of 2019-2020?
We have worked with HS2 to ensure we can continue to operate as normal over the weekends, so our membership opening program and weekend courses will carry on as normal until we move. However HOAC’s midweek group bookings will be limited.
What is going on on Harvil Road?
Part of the preparatory work involves moving a gas main which runs under the proposed line. The work along Harvil Road is associated with the moving of this pipeline. The whole project is expected to take a year to complete, apart from the obvious issues on Harvil Road there isn’t any direct effect on HOAC. The compound at the top of Dews Lane was for security due to the protesters who are camping along the road.
What about the new site, will it offer the same as HOAC?
We are working to ensure that everything we offer at our current site will be available at the new site. This is a preliminary sketch based on the existing planning application.
What about my boat? When can I move it to the new site?
Once our plans are confirmed we will be in touch with all members to plan how and when to get your boat to the new site.
Should I still join for the 2019-20 season?
Yes! We will be operating as normal for the season, there may be some minor disruption during the winter but apart from that we will be carrying on as normal. However we will be offering some exciting membership deals to help make the transition easier for our members
HOAC are still working to finalise all the details of the move and the new site, once we know more we will pass this on to all of our members and groups.
If you have any more questions please feel free to ask us.
