This course is ideal for those working with children and infants. In particular teachers, child minders, creche assistants, early years providers, this qualification fulfils the requirements detailed in the department of educations statutory framework for Early Years Foundation Stage. This course covers life-threatening conditions including CPR, Recovery Position, Bleeding, choking etc

Duration: 2 Days minimum 12 hours

Syllabus

• Role of the Paediatric First Aider
• Seizure
• Diabetic emergencies
• Primary survey
• Choking
• Asthma
• Resuscitation (CPR including the safe use of an AED)
• Minor injuries
• Meningitis
• Wounds, bleeding and shock
• Recovery position
• Febrile convulsions
• Allergic reactions including anaphylaxis
• Fractures
• Extreme cold and heat
• Head, neck and back injuries
• Foreign bodies
• Electrical incidents

Minimum age: 16 years old

Further information

The course is run on a staffing ratio of 1 instructor to up to 12 students.

The qualification is assessed both practically and through written assessment. On successfully completion of the written and practical assessment students will be issued with a certificate which is valid for 3 years from the date of the course.
