First Aid at Work – FAA Level 3 (RQF)

This Ofqual approved course is a comprehensive 3 day course covering a wide range of first aid emergencies. It will enable course participants to deal with emergency situations with confidence in a safe and effective way. This qualification is fully compliant with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982, ensuring that the workplace is fully prepared and compliant with all relevant legislation.

Duration: 3 Days minimum 18 hours

Syllabus

• Legalities, responsibilities and reporting
• Control of bleeding
• Poisoning
• Asthma
• Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
• Shock (including Anaphylaxis)
• Bandaging
• Diabetes
• Fractures and spinal injuries
• Heart attacks
• Choking
• Stroke
• Resuscitation and AED awareness
• Head injuries
• Eye injuries
• Burns
• Assessment of the situation
• Sprains and strains
• Chest injuries
• Epilepsy

Minimum age: 14 years old

Students must be at least 14 years old. A 14/15-year-old cannot assume a responsibility in the workplace until they reach the age of 16, and then it is the employer’s responsibility to ensure that the student is suitable for that role.

Further information

The course is run on a staffing ratio of 1 instructor to up to 12 students.

The qualification is assessed both practically and through a written assessment. On successfully completion of the assessment students will be issued with a certificate which is valid for 3 years from the date of the course.
