Students are taken through the safety rules for the archery range, given a demonstration on how to use the equipment and coached through their first few shots. Once the basics are mastered then it’s straight into a variety of games including team and individual competition.

Age: 5 years + for soft archery, 8 years+ for field archery.

Time Scale: 1hour – 3hours
Venue Requirements
Field Archery – using recurve bows like we used at HOAC before we closed.
Ideal requirements for shooting indoors: well-lit hall at least 18m long, 15m wide.
Ideal requirements for shooting outdoors: 114m long and 35m wide, short, flat grass area. (Reduced to 60m long with back netting)
Areas outside of these parameters will be considered but might not be suitable and will require being individually risk assessed.
Soft Archery – lightweight fibreglass bows and arrows with big diameter rubber suction ends.
Ideal requirements for indoor or outdoor. 4 lines needed these can use pre-existing lines on playground or hall if available, for example netball court or badminton court.
