This course will equip students with the knowledge and confidence to effectively administer First Aid. It is both practical and theoretical training covering a variety of topics and is compliant with Health and Safety Executive code of Practice.

Duration: 1 Days minimum 6 hours

Syllabus

• Responsibilities and reporting
• Resuscitation and AED awareness
• Burns
• Assessment of the situation
• Anatomy
• Choking
• Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
• Minor injuries
• Epilepsy
• Basic hygiene in First Aid
• Bleeding control
• Shock

Minimum age: 14 years

Students must be at least 14 years old. A 14/15-year-old cannot assume a responsibility in the workplace until they reach the age of 16, and then it is the employer’s responsibility to ensure that the student is suitable for that role.

Further information

The course is run on a staffing ratio of 1 instructor to up to 12 students.

The qualification is assessed practically throughout the course. On successfully completion of the assessment students will be issued with a certificate which is valid for 3 years from the date of the course.
