October courses at Rickmansworth Sailing Club for 2025

HOAC is relaunching its holiday course programme with a few extra activities however due to not having a permanent location we will be running a vastly reduced range and number of courses this year. If your child has already attended a course with us this year please ensure you let us know what award they already have so we can help them work towards the next level.

Kayaking (8-18 years mornings / afternoon)

This course is suitable for complete beginners and kayakers who already hold awards. The syllabus covers the basic kayaking strokes and gets them comfortable going forwards, backwards and safely capsizing. We will try and progress the kayaker through the PaddleUK awards.

Please highlight your current level in the information box as groups will be allocated according to your ability and age.

Costs

£150 for five half days

Sailing (8-18 years mornings / afternoon)

This course is suitable for complete beginners and sailors who already hold awards. Learn the basics of sailing in a fun and safe You’ll practice sailing skills through hands-on exercises and games, all while improving your technique. Please note 8- 10 year olds will sail RS Tera’s and 11 – 18 year olds will sail Laser Pico’s.

Please highlight your child’s current level in the notes to staff box, as groups will be allocated according to ability and age.

If booking for full day we may switch the activities around to best suit the group (age and ability.) If booking with friends please add this to the notes to staff box.

Extended Hours:

We are open and ready to welcome participants as early as 9AM and will remain open until 5.30PM for pick-up at no extra cost. Feel free to drop off your child before the sessions start and pick them up after the day’s activities. Morning only courses to be collected by 1.15pm. Afternoon only can be dropped off from 1.15pm.

If you need to drop off earlier then 9AM we will be able to accommodate a number of children from 8.30AM if booked and paid for in advance. £5 per session.

If courses are full, it is worth checking a few days later as we may be able to extend some courses.

RYA Powerboating Level 1 & 2

30th & 31st October 2025 – FULLY BOOKED

This two-day course combines the RYA introduction to Powerboating award (Level 1) and the National Powerboat Certificate (Level 2). The course covers all the practical and theoretical aspects needed to competently handle a powerboat. This course is suitable for 14 years and over. A passport-sized photograph is required at the start of the course.
