First Aid

It is compulsory for schools to teach some sort of First Aid to the students. HOAC can provide a variety of sessions to meet the needs of the year group and build on previous skills learnt or start from the very basics. Alongside the national curriculum sessions we can also run sessions to meet Duke of Edinburgh Award or part of college courses, these can be non-regulated courses or we can provide FAA Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work , FAA Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid along with many more approved courses you can see a full list of courses we can run on our first aid courses page. These same courses can be delivered for school staff as and when required

Number of participants: max 32 students per session depending on space.

Age: 5 years + for national curriculum sessions. 14/16years+ for regulated certificated courses (regulated courses 1:12 ratio)

Ratio: 1:12 or this can be increase to 2:16 with a first aid qualified adult.

Time Scale: 2hour +

Venue Requirements

Open area big enough for half the group to be kneeled on the floor. Classroom with desks pushed back or hall would be suitable locations.

Audio visual equipment which we can link into or power location within the room that we can use to bring in our own equipment.

National Curriculum Links KS2 & KS3

First Aid
Know concepts of basic first-aid, for example dealing with common injuries, including head injuries.

Know how to make a clear and efficient call to emergency services if necessary.

Know basic treatment for common injuries.

Know life-saving skills, including how to administer CPR.

Know the purpose of defibrillators and when one might be needed.

Activity First Aid – FAA Level 3 Award – 2-Day (RQF)

Annual Refresher for First Aiders – Half Day

Appointed Person – 2 hour

Basic Life Support – FAA Level 2 – 3 hours (RQF)

BLS & Safe Use of an AED – FAA Level 2 Award – 4 hours (RQF)

Defibrillation – FAA Level 2 Award (CPR & AED skills) 1-day (RQF)

Defibrillation Annual Refresher – Half Day

Emergency First Aid at Work – FAA Level 3 Award – 1 day (RQF)

First Aid at Work Re-qualification – FAA Level 3 – 2 day (RQF)

First Aid at Work – FAA Level 3 – 3 day (RQF)

Basic Life Support, AED, Anaphylaxis for Adults, Child/Infant – FAA Level 3 Award – Half day (RQF)

Oxygen Therapy Administration – FAA Level 3 Award – 1 day (RQF)

Paediatric Emergency First Aid – FAA Level 3 – 1 day (RQF)

Paediatric First Aid – FAA Level 3 – 2 day (RQF)
