Why not become a member and enjoy discounted prices!

Non-members are welcome at HOAC. If you have your own equipment or wish to use ours, you can do so as a day member.

Although there is no requirement to be a Member to use any of our facilities, there are many advantages in joining, please see benefits below.

If you want to use the Centre regularly then annual membership is the more cost-effective option. HOAC’s year runs from 1st April – 31st March and fees are reduced by 50% after the 1st September.

Due to the disruption to the Centre, there will be a further discount for this years membership. To encourage all members to continue to use the Centre, the 2 year membership deal has been included again this year, for all memberships brought in 2020.

Membership Information

Day Membership

It is possible to use the Centre even if you are not a member. Day members under 14 years old must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Not available at the moment due to Covid-19.

Temporary 4 Months Membership

This is available for June - September 2020.

Annual Membership

A family is defined as Parent(s) and children UNDER 18, or in full-time education at the same address.

All members and guests must sign in before going on the lake.

CE approved buoyancy aids with whistle are included in the hire price and must be worn at all times on the water, pontoons and surrounding areas.

Please note clothing suitable to the activity and prevailing conditions must be worn. This includes footwear, which must be worn at all times both on and off the water.

Membership Rules & Regulations

The following is a summary of the Centre rules. The full rules and regulations are available on request from the Duty Officer.

Responsibility/Insurance

Water safety cover is provided. However, users (including juniors) are advised that they participate in the activities at their own risk.
The Centre has third party liability insurance cover. Users may wish to consider taking out personal accident insurance prior to any activity.
The Centre accepts no liability for the loss or damage to personal property, including money.
All craft on the water must be insured for third party risks (minimum), have adequate buoyancy and keep at least 10 metres from the fishing banks.

Safety

All water users must be able to swim 10 metres.
An approved buoyancy aid with whistle must be worn at all times when on or near the water or on the pontoons.
Blowing a whistle is the accepted call for assistance.
Clothing suitable to the activity and prevailing conditions must be worn. This includes footwear, which must be worn at all times both on and off the water.
Swimming is NOT allowed – unless under the direct supervision of a HOAC staff member.
Users must notify the Duty Officer on the day of any relevant medical or physical condition that may affect their fitness to participate in the activity.
All members and guests must sign in before going on the lake.
Dogs are not encouraged and must be kept on a lead.

Membership

Any person going on the water must either be an annual member or register as a day member with the Duty Officer. A responsible adult must supervise day members under 14.
An annual membership card is issued in the name of the member who must carry it at all times and present it upon request.
Under 8's are not currently permitted afloat due to our Covid-19 operational procedures.

Gift Aid

This is a way by which the government increases the income of charities. It allows the charity to enhance the money you have paid by reclaiming some of the income tax. It will not cost you any extra and if you are a higher rate taxpayer you may be able to reclaim tax yourself.

Photography

Photographs taken by HOAC staff will only be used for HOAC publicity purposes, and will not be passed on to third parties.

Email

Your email address will only be used for the purposes of future promotional information.

Membership Upgrade (Boat Parking) Terms & Conditions

Boat parking paid for before 31st May will be entitled to a 50% discount per boat. Boats renewed after this date pay the full price.

Only current annual members of HOAC are eligible to register a boat for parking.

Only one registered boat may be parked in the allocated space. If a boat is changed or removed or if there is a change of ownership the Centre must be informed in writing.

Boats must be insured for a minimum of third party liability. It is recommended that the boat and accessories are also insured for damage and theft.

Boats in the boat park must have a current registration sticker displayed on the outside of the transom.

Boats must be kept in a tidy, mobile and serviceable condition. Owners will be requested to remove derelict boats even if paid for.

The trailer of a registered boat may be kept on site either underneath the boat or in the trailer park, which is located at the back of the boat park. Only one relevant boat trailer and trolley is allowed per boat. The trailer must be clearly marked with the owner’s name. Unmarked trailers or trailers left elsewhere may be removed and disposed of.

Boat park spaces may be re-allocated and boats moved according to Centre requirements.

Boat owners may be able to collect/return their boats out of normal opening hours by prior arrangement with the Centre office.

In the event of a boat not having current registration, in line with RYA guidelines:

HOAC reserves the right to move the boat to another part of the site without being liable for any loss or damage to the boat.

Upon giving one month’s notice to the last known owner in writing, HOAC may sell the craft and deduct any monies due (whether by way of subscriptions or otherwise) from the proceeds of the sale.

Any boat that in the opinion of HOAC cannot be sold, upon notice being given, may be broken up and the expenses recovered from the owner.

HOAC shall at all times have lien over the boat in respect of monies due

HOAC reserves the right to refuse a boat parking application.

As a guide catamarans and boats larger than a Wayfarer dinghy are not suitable for the HOAC boat park.

HOAC does not accept any responsibility for damage, loss or theft of any property left on the premises.

HOAC Clubs

The Centre runs five clubs to help our younger members continue and progress their sailing, windsurfing and sculling whilst having lots of supervised fun and games. For further information please contact the HOAC office.

Tera & Pico Sailing Club - Buy Now!

These club sessions are for young people who love getting on the water. The main focus is for all participants to have fun and improve their sailing ability while out on the water.

When: Sunday afternoons from 1pm – 4pm
Dates: 26 April – 4 October 2020
Cost: £85 plus HOAC Annual Membership

Laser Sailing Club - Buy Now!

This is where you can try out Lasers and a range of performance boats.

When: Sundays throughout the year and Wednesday evenings, 6 May-26 August
Cost: £85 plus HOAC Annual Membership plus Queensmead Sailing Club (QSC) Membership.

Sculling Club - Buy Now!

Throughout the 6 months you will progress your skills to a point where you are a self-sufficient rower. You will be able to look after yourself or work as part of a team whilst meeting new friends along the way and find your team spirit. You will get to try out different boats and take part in regattas, become an expert on Ergo’s and most important of all have fun all the way.
It’s also a great way to work towards sections of your PE GCSE’S or other youth awards.

When: Saturdays from 10am – 12noon
Dates: Summer Club: 25 April 2020 – 20 August 2020 or Winter Club: 5 September 2020 – 27 March 2021.
Cost: £95 for the summer and £95 for the winter sessions.

Pre-requisites:

Be aged 11-18 years

Attended a HOAC Sculling course or hold BR Stage 1

Windsurfing Club - Buy Now!

During Club sessions there will be an RYA Instructor on hand to provide informal advice, support, coaching, and safety cover. Windsurf club members get use of the specialist equipment including the monofilm sails, performance windsurf boards and harnesses (ability dependant).
Ideal for completing DofE physical or skills section.

When: Thursdays 6pm - 8.30pm
Dates: 7 May – 27 August 2020
Cost: £85 plus HOAC Annual Membership for juniors and adults.

Hillingdon Rowing Club (18+ years)

This club is open to all adults who want to come along and row (beginners through to experienced rowers). Saturday mornings 8am – 10.30am and Sunday mornings 10am – 12noon. Queensmead Sailing Club - Buy Now!

This club is open to adults, juniors and families. A fleet of good sailing dinghies are available, free of charge, to QSC members. Off-Base trips and social gatherings are organised by the club. Hillingdon Junior Canoe Club (10 – 18 years)

Equipment Hire

HOAC has a wide range of sailing dinghies, windsurf boards and rigs, kayaks and canoes available for hire. Hire equipment can not be pre-booked.

Before you can hire you must have a basic level of competency, guidelines given below and be able to swim 10 metres:

Sailing: RYA Level 2 or RYA Youth Stage 2
Kayaking: BC 1 Star or Discover Award
Windsurfing: RYA Start Windsurfing (Level 1) or Gold
Stand Up Paddle Boarding (SUPing): 10 metre swimming ability
Row Boat: 10 metre swimming ability

This is at the discretion of the Duty Officer and will depend on weather conditions and how busy the Centre is. If you’re unsure, it is advisable to call ahead and check before travelling.
